I still love my car
My Scion turned 54321 on the ODO last Thursday, so I took him down to the adobe located along the El Camino Real and snapped a few shots.

ODO Pictures
I'm usually somewhere along this road when the odometer of my Black Cherry Bomb hits an interesting number. It's rather a nice commute.

A Few Things in March
The rain total to date is 7.1 inches, so the couple of storms we had in March helped a little.
My car turned 34567. A thrill to be sure but even better this grand occasion happened out on a country road at one of favorite houses.
There is this magazine slash gas station slash buy your lottery ticket and junk food type places in town. I'm kind of a magazine junkie, just so you know. I once asked them to carry Bust magazine, but the women thought I meant a girlie rag. Uh no
Clouds are too few and far in-between that I must take pictures. The local goat said hello!

Happy Flag Day!
Wait! That's not a flag. It's ODO being symmetrical. Sort of. Maybe I'll take a picture of the flags.
We're flying the Betsy Ross flag, the one where 13 stars are in a circle like a pie pan, and the Star Spangled Banner flag, the one with 15 stars and 15 stripes that inspired the song. That was his choice. The Betsy Ross flag was mine.
There is just something about a flag whipping in the wind that makes me happy. It makes me daydream of having a flag making shop on Nantucket Island.
Wouldn't that be cool?

Fly Me To The Moon
The challenge is to LOOK UP this month of May at NaBloPoMo, and I have been interpreting this as "things are looking up" as in "it's not my birthday month anymore." But not today. Because today is ....
Sink-O de Mayo(nnaise). Happy Happy to All !!!
I think it was about 87 degrees when I left work today, so Sun Roof Open.
LOOK UP!

There is something about having a brand new car that even when it is not brand new anymore - in this case the Cherry Bomb is 3 years old! - it still feels brand new. And with each turn of a thousand miles, I want to take its picture and post it.

Star River Haiku
When I was driving to work today, I was amazed at the beauty of autumn. The cottonwoods along the river were turning the beautiful shades of yellow, orange and brown. The hills of vineyards were that deep red color of harvest and the grand canopies of green oaks speckled in the brown hills.
It was so peaceful driving along the old country road seeing everything so new. The experience reminded me of meditation; how real real can be.
I am here alone
High in the place I was meant
To see bugs on road.
I missed every one of them too. I have a "no kill" policy if I can help it.

A Special Day

I received my made-to-order Scion tC from Japan back in January 2007. It had 11 miles on the ODO and was delivered on a flat-bed tow truck from a Toyota dealership in Bakersfield. I almost lost my job waiting for my Black Cherry Bomb to get to me. (I lived way out in the country and had no way to get to work, but that wasn't a good enough reason for my boss at the time (she's long gone now) to bring in a substitute.)

Car shopping was painful. Either I was ignored or told what I wanted. When I discovered what I wanted, I went online and got *exactly* what I wanted. The only price that wasn't listed was the time it took for it to get to me. When that truck came around 12 mile corner with my black cherry "soap" (that's what it looked like a mile away) on board, I started to cry, I started to scream, I started to dance. I stood at the gate and waited for my first ever (and probably last) "mine and mine only" car to arrived.
And that was 20,000 miles ago.
And here's the guy who made it all possible.................................

Happy 85th Birthday Dad !!!
