Too close and the very real possibility of morning winds brought out the sheriffs (at 3am) to warn us of evacuation. In the end we didn't have to, but a lot of people up valley did. I'm pretty sure I've blogged about this before, although I can't find it. The fire plume was spectacular in the first few days, then it was pure smokiness.

Really spectacular photos. I would have never guessed it was a fire with the way the plume of smoke arranged itself. It looks like very serious storm clouds. Glad you didn't have to evacuate. We have fires here periodically (that we can see, but not where we live), and I always imagine how horrible for those who live in those areas.

ReplyDeleteWe had our first wildfire, in the area, yesterday. Apparently it was caused by high winds blowing two powerlines close together. The resulting sparks started the fire. They got it under control pretty quickly, as it was threatening homes.
I'm dreading this years fire season, as we can see the cheat grass in the hills already..
The clouds of smoke make wondeful photos but I'm sure it can get dangerous. Glad you are safe and thanks for sharing
